SUMMER
Fraternities at Oklahoma State traditionally do the majority of their 'RUSH' during the summer months.  RUSH, for those unfamiliar with the process, is simply the way that prospective members (RUSHEES) interact with members of different Fraternities to find out where they are the most comfortable and where they feel they belong.
At OSU, RUSH is finally changing for the better after nearly thirty years without change.  Summer RUSH is an OPEN RUSH, meaning that there are few requirements placed on RUSHEES and there is no timeframe that must be followed.  The only real restrictions are that ALCOHOL IS PROHIBITED AT ALL RUSH FUNCTIONS, DIRTY RUSH (speaking negatively about other Fraternities to gain an unfair advantage by making false statements) IS PROHIBITED, and that RUSHEES are not allowed to sign with any Fraternity until after a certain date, usually in mid-June, established by the University.
Greek luncheons are held almost every week-day throughout the summer to provide RUSHEES AND THEIR PARENTS an opportunity to meet with representatives of different houses.  Incoming students may register for these luncheons on the morning of their enrollment sessions at the university, and the luncheons are held in the Student Union.
GREEK DISCOVERY DAY
GREEK DISCOVERY DAY is the first opportunity provided to graduating high school seniors to experience the Oklahoma State Greek System.  It is usually held around the first Saturdy in April.  Every year hundreds of young men and women converge on Stillwater to begin to find out what this greta university has in store for them.  The day begins very informally at about 9:00 AM with a walk-around.  All of the Greek organizations set up displays with various artifacts that give a brief insight into what their organization is all about.  All prospective members are highly encouraged to visit wth members from every organization during this time to begin to familiarize themselves with the houses on campus.  Later in the day, there is a presentation by the Office of Greek Life.  After lunch, groups are toured around campus and go to the different houses.  This is another great opportunity to get a feel for what each house stands for and what their role is on campus.  On the evening of Greek Discovery Day, nearly every Fraternity throws a 'RUSH PARTY' which, by definition, is A NON-ALCOHOLIC EVENT.  Some houses host these events by themselves, while other house pair up to show potential members how strong their relationships with other Greek Houses truly are.  This should not be a competition, but a cooperation to help everyone find the house to which they belong.  As a rushee and pledge, you ahould not have to change who you are to fit in with a certain organizatin, rather you should find the organization where you and your beliefs already fit in.
FALL AND SPRING RUSH
This is the tricky part about RUSH at Oklahoma State.  There are generally no true guidelines for the way RUSH is to be run during the school year.  The same rules listed above still apply, but every house handles this aspect of the RUSH season differently.  Some houses don't RUSH during the school year because they get their 'quota' and don't feel the need to do so (however very few FRATERNITY houses at OSU have quotas).  Some houses spend their entire RUSH budget during the summer months.  Others try to RUSH exclusively during the school year.
Chi Phi holds the belief that there are countless benefits to holding the RUSH season during the school year.  We feel that prospective members should have the opportunity to explore all of their options before making a decision.  With 19 Fraternities on campus, each with its own personality, there is a house for everyone.  We believe that we should be a part of your college experience (if we are right for you), not that we should BE your college experience.
We take two pledge classes every semester, with a goal of 16 pledges per semester.  For more information on the pledge program, click on the Pledging link.
To RUSH during the Fall or Spring semesters, the prospective member need only to show interest.  By coming to the house and hanging out with the guys, coming to scheduled RUSH events or dinners, or just calling the house (405-624-3234) and asking to speak to the RUSH Chairman will get you on our RUSH list.  To be given a bid by the membership, you must recieve a 70 percent affirmative vote from the active members.  So, as you can see, the key to getting a bid is to meet as many members as you can. Once the Rush Chairman thinks you have met enough people and been around enough for everyone to get to know you, he will call a 'HASH.'  HASH is the process by which we select our new members and is the main reason that we focus primarily on RUSH during the school year.  This process is very good for selecting quality members as can be seen by our exemplary pledge retention rate.

Every Saturday, we are having Fraternity-wide rush events in order for prospective members to meet more of the members.  During the week, other events are also planned, but they are determined by the area-coordinators for each area (Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Stillwater)
